STEPHEN KING: The Wind Through The Keyhole Audiobook
Listen to an excerpt: Wind Through the Keyhole
King reading The Wind Through the Keyhole
Here is a picture of Stephen King preparing to record the unabridged audio book of The Wind Through the Keyhole.
A person’s never too old for stories.
Roland Deschain and his ka-tet—Jake, Susannah, Eddie, and Oy, the billy-bumbler—encounter a ferocious storm just after crossing the River Whye on their way to the Outer Baronies. As they shelter from the howling gale, Roland tells his friends not just one strange story but two … and in so doing, casts new light on his own troubled past.
In his early days as a gunslinger, in the guilt-ridden year following his mother’s death, Roland is sent by his father to investigate evidence of a murderous shape-shifter, a “skin-man” preying upon the population around Debaria. Roland takes charge of Bill Streeter, the brave but terrified boy who is the sole surviving witness to the beast’s most recent slaughter. Only a teenager himself, Roland calms the boy and prepares him for the following day’s trials by reciting a story from the Magic Tales of the Eld that his mother often read to him at bedtime. “A person’s never too old for stories,” Roland says to Bill. “Man and boy, girl and woman, never too old. We live for them.” And indeed, the tale that Roland unfolds, the legend of Tim Stoutheart, is a timeless treasure for all ages, a story that lives for us.
King to narrate audio edition of Wind through the Keyhole
The Simon & Schuster Audiobook edition of The Wind Through the Keyhole will be read by Stephen. With over a decade since his last audiobook reading, Stephen shares “I’ve spent a lot of time with the character of Roland Deschain and the Dark Tower universe over the years. Now that I am revisiting that world, it felt like a fine time to lend it my voice.”
The full-length audiobook will also feature an exclusive audio preview for Doctor Sleep. (Doctor Sleep is the sequel to The Shining set to be published in 2013)
This is the first time in more than a decade that King will narrate a full-length audiobook!
Simon & Schuster Audio will publish THE WIND THROUGH THE KEYHOLE simultaneously with the Scribner hardcover and ebook on April 24, 2012
The Gunslinger lives!
Universal Pictures said no, but KA will have the final say on the Dark Tower saga.
According to Deadline, Warner Bros is now very close to a deal that will give Ron Howard the chance to direct at least the first feature, potentially with Javier Bardem starring as gunslinger Roland of Gilead. Basically the studio bought Goldsman’s script and are paying him to do a polish. Howard remains attached to direct, likely in first-quarter 2013.

The Dark Tower - Wind through the Keyhole
The more I read this, the more excited I become….
Dear Constant Readers,
At some point, while worrying over the copyedited manuscript of the next book (11/22/63, out November 8th), I started thinking—and dreaming—about Mid-World again. The major story of Roland and his ka-tet was told, but I realized there was at least one hole in the narrative progression: what happened to Roland, Jake, Eddie, Susannah, and Oy between the time they leave the Emerald City (the end of Wizard and Glass) and the time we pick them up again, on the outskirts of Calla Bryn Sturgis (the beginning of Wolves of the Calla)?
There was a storm, I decided. One of sudden and vicious intensity. The kind to which billy-bumblers like Oy are particularly susceptible. Little by little, a story began to take shape. I saw a line of riders, one of them Roland’s old mate, Jamie DeCurry, emerging from clouds of alkali dust thrown by a high wind. I saw a severed head on a fencepost. I saw a swamp full of dangers and terrors. I saw just enough to want to see the rest. Long story short, I went back to visit an-tet with my friends for awhile. The result is a novel called The Wind Through the Keyhole. It’s finished, and I expect it will be published next year.
It won’t tell you much that’s new about Roland and his friends, but there’s a lot none of us knew about Mid-World, both past and present. The novel is shorter than DT 2-7, but quite a bit longer than the first volume—call this one DT-4.5. It’s not going to change anybody’s life, but God, I had fun.

Dark Tower Series - Roland of Gilead
The Tower needs your help…. I’m looking for advice/input/guidance on creating a fan site using rolandofgilead.com.
I’ve had this domain for a while and I once using it as a WP site and now hosting it on Tumblr. Looking for the best way to grow the site and have it serve as a useful source of information. I love the Dark Tower Series and hope to share that passion with the world.
Any ideas… contact me @darktowerseries
